Concerned with Competence Improvement, the Department of Mechanical Engineering Education Conducts CNC Training for Vocational High School Teachers
Yogyakarta, July 9, 2024 - In order to improve the competence of vocational high school (SMK) teachers in the field of manufacturing technology, 20 teachers from various schools in Yogyakarta participated in Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine operation training. This training took place from July 9 to July 11, 2024.
The training was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering Education, Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University, with the aim of providing knowledge and practical skills to teachers in the use of CAM software and CNC machine operations. This activity is expected to improve the quality of teaching in the field of manufacturing technology and help students to be better prepared for the industrial world.
The activity chairman, Dr. Sentot Wijanarka, MT, stated that this training is very important to prepare vocational high school teachers for the rapidly advancing technology. "With this training, we hope that teachers can master the latest technology in the manufacturing field so that they can transfer this knowledge to their students," said Dr. Sentot.
CNC Machine Tool Setting Process
During the three days of training, participants received materials that included basic CAM theory, design simulation using CAM software, and hands-on practice in CNC machine operation. The participants were enthusiastic about each training session and actively participated in discussions and practical exercises.
One of the participants, Mr. Nurudin Tri, a teacher from SMK Negeri 1 Nanggulan, stated that this training was very beneficial and added to his practical knowledge and skills in manufacturing technology. "We are very grateful to the committee and the resource persons for providing this valuable knowledge and experience. We hope to implement this knowledge in our respective schools," he said.
Milling and Turning Processes
The training concluded with the presentation of certificates to the participants by Dr. Sentot Wijanarka, MT. The participants felt greatly helped and hoped that similar training could continue to be held regularly to improve the quality of education at vocational high schools in Yogyakarta.
